Saint Padre Pio (1887-1968) was a Capuchin friar who led a remarkable life; bearing the wounds of Christ for 50 years through the gift of stigmata. Over the years, countless people flocked to Padre for confession. At one point he was hearing 70 confessions a day and spent 16 hours a day in the confessional. Many people were converted and healed through his intercession. It’s no wonder Padre would need a coffee in the afternoon! He would drink coffee while responding to letters from people who sought his spiritual direction. Even though he endured immense suffering through his bodily afflictions, he trusted and hoped in God throughout his long life. He was famous for saying; “Pray, hope and don’t worry.” Saint Padre Pio was canonised a Saint in 2002.
